It takes a very long time to even make your kart because you have to move so slow to scroll through pieces, themes, and actually placing the bricks in place. There are a few issues I have with the controls though.

Now it’s time to make your racing machine! You have your different themed pieces to use, how to place pieces, how to move your camera, ext.
Some items in the kart customization can only be used on certain themed karts, so be careful to choose carefully before getting to the screen above. These are different default themes for your kart. Before you go into making your kart, in the upper right hand corner there will be some images to scroll through. The layout for making your kart is simple enough. You have 23 hats, 16 heads, 15 torsos, and 13 different legs to mix and match to create your guy. After your character is to your liking, you continue on to “getting a licence”, which is just naming your profile. When you start up Build mode, it brings you to a screen giving you different options to use on your Lego character.
Mark and I plugged in our controllers and got started on making Mark his own Lego guy and kart for racing! Here’s a bit on how Build mode works. Time Race: Wanna try improving on a certain track? Time yourself and make a goal to beat your own record time to the finish line!.Verses Race: Go one on one against a friend for a race and see who has the best racing ability! Basically the games multiplayer mode.Single Race: Want to just try one track? Only have enough time for one round? Single Race lets you pick your character and a stage to race on quickly for a fast fun race!.Circuit Race: Race though all 4 stages in a row to see who’s the best racer of them all! The player with the most wins at the end gets first place!.Build: Here you can make your own custom Lego character and kart instead of using one of the default racers the game gives you!.Simple enough! Let’s break down what each option does:

Notice how none of those are racing games? The Lego Racers series may be the reason for that. In modern day, Lego games have very good reputations for their spin offs of Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, ext. To others though, an extremely low price on a game usually points to one of two things either the game is a common find and not in demand or the game’s not the greatest to play. Following my goal of collecting my childhood though forced me to go home with this racing game. To me, this just came off as a great price for one of my favorite games. Lego Racers was a game that I found at one of my local game shops, and picked up for about 3$. Today, I’m plugging in my N64 and revisiting this childhood memory of mine with my guest star, Mark! A lot of feedback from this game was either great praise or no praise at all.
